STOVETRACE: India’s Clean & Connected Cookstoves in 360
Qualcomm for Good support initiatives around the globe that utilize mobile technology to make a difference. In India, their support of StoveTrace, a Nexleaf Analytics technology, ensures the provision of clean (mobile-connected) cookstoves to indigenous communities – those stoves reduce the
amount of black carbon (soot) being emitted to the atmosphere, reducing respiratory diseases and also creating cash incentives for households (via the earning and trading of carbon credits based upon the stoves’ reduction of local deforestation).
HAPINOY: Philippines’ Mobile-Entrepreneurial Mothers in 360
Founded by Mark Ruiz, and supported by Qualcomm for Good, Hapinoy trains thousands of “nanays” to use mobile technologies for payments and cash transfers, disaster insurance, purchasing by installments, etc to empower
Filipino communities at their most local level via the nation’s (mostly women-owned) sari-sari convenience stores, increasing access and improving the resilience of even the smallest villages.
Fishing with Mobile Nets: Colombia’s Connected Fishermen in 360
Supported by Qualcomm for Good, Cintel and the Pro Boquilla Foundation, artisanal fishermen communities in Colombia are being provided mobile-connected tablets to view tidal patterns, track their catch, access local fish
market prices and connect with other communities across the country to improve their profitability and preserve the legacy of their ancient ways of providing for their families and contributing to their culture.
